Reaching card programmes before the processor decision

Following our call: companies that look like an opening right now, the hiring list checked against your question (new role or replacement, caught in time or missed), a signal built on contract timing, and how we would run it for Tribe.

Section 1

Opportunities right now

Companies where two or more things line up at once: a card or acquiring need, and a reason the processor question is open now. Grouped by the situation they're in.

Forced to move their issuer or sponsor is gone

SolflareCrypto wallet · EEA / UK

Card paused on 28 Jul 2026 after its issuer Kulipa failed: “temporarily paused while we move to a new issuing partner.” Missed its own August relaunch; card volume $0 since.

A live programme with millions of wallet users and no partner in place.

Solflare, 28 Jul 2026
Ready (formerly Argent)Crypto wallet · UK / EEA

Card programme shut on 30 Jul 2026 when Kulipa wound down. “Rebuilding on new infrastructure”, no new issuer or processor named.

Same collapse. About 20 programmes were left without an issuer; most aren't named publicly yet.

The Defiant, 30 Jul 2026
AlaanSpend management · UAE / Saudi

In-principle approval for UAE stored value and retail payments licences (7 Sep 2026) to issue corporate cards under its own licence. Saudi card issuing disrupted after SAMA suspended the BIN sponsor Neoleap.

Moving from a partner-issued card to its own licence in the UAE, and needs a new route back into Saudi. Pemo is in the same position.

A funded first card programme with ~200–500 staff behind it.

FF News, 9 Jun 2026
None of these has said it's choosing a processor. Each has a public reason the question is likely open now, which is when a short, relevant note gets read.
Section 2

The hiring list, re-checked

For each company: is it a new role or a replacement, do they already run cards and with whom, and would we have caught them in time.

The honest answer: of these eight, one looks like the right moment and one is in a likely renewal window. The rest have already chosen. A hire on its own is a timing flag, not a buying moment, which is why we would never run on one signal.

Removed from the earlier list: a role posted by a recruiter for an unnamed client (now closed), and a "Head of Card Issuing" at PayAlly that sells issuing to others, with processing already covered by its group.

Section 3

Estimated renewal windows

If card processing contracts typically run three to five years with around twelve months' notice, the date a company announced its current processor is a rough guide to when it is next up. These are fintechs and digital banks in your regions that announced a processor between 2021 and 2023.

These are estimates. Actual contract terms aren't public, and an announcement date isn't always the contract start. What it gives you is an order to work the market in: the accounts most likely to be reviewing their processor in the next twelve months.
Section 4

How we'd run it for Tribe

The aim: a steady supply of really good prospects, reached at the moment they're choosing, without the generic outreach you get every day.

The situations we'd segment by

Signals tell us when. Situations tell us who is in the market and what to say. Every account lands in one or two of these, so each group gets one relevant message instead of a generic pitch.

SituationWhy it matters to TribeThe result we'd lead with
Live product, no cards yet
wallets, remittance, lenders, payroll, B2B payments, crypto
Cards are the obvious next product. Earliest possible momentWe might be able to get your card live in 8–12 weeks, so card revenue starts this year instead of next.
Cards through a banking-as-a-service providerAt scale they want margin and control: own licence, direct processorWe might be able to help you run cards as your own programme, keeping more of the margin on every card and setting your own roadmap.
Issuer or sponsor in troubleForced migration, with a deadlineWe might be able to get your cardholders back on a working card within weeks.
Merger or acquisitionTwo card set-ups, one ownerWe might be able to put both businesses' cards on one platform: one integration, one cost base, one roadmap.
Own licence, processor deal 3+ years oldRenewal windowBefore you sign for another term, we might be able to get you onto a platform where new card products go live in weeks, not months.
On a legacy processorNew products are slow and costly to launchWe might be able to get your next card product live in 8–12 weeks instead of a year.
Live in two or more regionsLikely several processors; one stack across marketsWe might be able to run every market on one integration, the way UGLYCASH runs its Visa programme across 15 markets.
Debit only, credit or commercial cards nextThe current set-up may not carry the new card typeWe might be able to get your credit card live on the same platform as your debit cards, without adding a second processor.
A new domestic scheme to support
Jaywan in the UAE, mada in Saudi
Every issuer there has to certifyWe might be able to take the scheme work off your team, so the rollout doesn't hold up the rest of your roadmap.
PSPs taking acquiring in-houseNeed acquirer processing, gateway, SoftPOSWe might be able to get your acquiring live in about two months, the way OnerWay's was.
Group A

Accounts with a confirmed moment

A merger, an issuer problem, a fresh licence with cards still ahead, a new card product, or a processor deal reaching its renewal years. Each gets a message written for that company and that moment.

Group B

The market likely up for renewal

For most accounts nobody knows the exact date. A short, relevant note keeps Tribe in front of them, so when their window opens you're a name they already know. Across a few thousand accounts, some are at the right moment each month, and the replies tell us who.

Then

Narrow it down

Replies, new signals and engagement move accounts from B to A. Your team spends its time on the ones that are actually in a window.

What we do

  • Find and verify the accounts and the right people
  • Track the signals each week
  • Set up sending on separate domains, never tribepayments.com
  • Write and run the campaigns across email and LinkedIn

What you do

  • Approve the list and every message before anything goes out
  • Take over as soon as someone replies with interest, or let us run it until the meeting is booked
  • Take the meetings

What the emails look like

Three or four lines: their situation, the result we might be able to get them, and a light question to see if it's worth exploring. Enough to pique interest; the full pitch happens on the call. No "I noticed you're doing great things in partnerships".
